THE NEW LUMIA: BACK IN BLACK

Two weeks ago, Nokia started rolling out a new update for their Lumia phones which run Windows 8 with GDR3, so Amber software is required..

With this update, Nokia wanted to enhance the Lumia phones. A couple of changes were made. The camera function is updated, the Nokia Camera replaced the stock camera app.

With the Nokia Camera, you can use different lenses and make razor sharp pictures and HD movies. Nokia included the Nokia Storyteller app, which sorts your photos by date and place, so you have a sort photobook. The app is still in Bèta.

Also, the Bluetooth LE has been added. LE is for Low-Energy. Now we can use Bluetooth for longer while consuming less energy.

The change that I liked the most was the ability to disable the screen rotation. Now I can just adjust the screen to whatever I want and when I want, without having it turned around by the auto-rotation.

Nokia also improved their Glance Screen to Glance Screen 2.0 so it consumes less energy.

Another noticable change is the multitasking. From now on, the Lumia users can close apps from the Multitasking screen instead of pressing the Back button a hundred times until it's closed.

Now you know the main differences between the Amber and Black Lumia versions. Now we have to prepare for Windows Phone 9, which will be expected in January 2015
