WHATSAPP - WHAT ABOUT IT?

We all know Whatsapp. Whatsapp is the biggest and the best online messaging app in the whole world.

We all know how it works, and that it's available for all OS out there, but what exactly are the differences between the app for iOS, Android and Windows Phone?

In this article we're bound to find out what are those differences.

User Interface

Or layout, for those who don't understand the term User Interface ( UI ).

The main difference in Whatsapp's UI is that in Android, iOS and Windows Phone all have a different layout, which is adjusted to the phone's layout.

In Windows Phone, for example, the colors of the text buttons are adjusted to the colour of your system presets.

In iOS, the UI of Whatsapp is white. With in iOS7, green and white text buttons.

And then there's the Android version of Whatsapp, which hasn't changed throughout the update's that Android has provided. The UI is still simple, green and grey-ish text buttons.

Another difference between the versions UI, is that in Android and iOS you have the abilty to change the chat background, and in Windows Phone you can't.

Speed

The speed of the app depends on your phone's hardware and the OS.

To be honest, I'm no Apple fan, but Whatsapp runs better on an iPhone, than on an Android or Windows Phone. This is because the iPhone's have a way better RAM management. In addition to that the iOS gives you notifications on the lockscreen itself,on the other hand android shows it in notification centre but some 3rd party apps have the ability to display it on lockscreen,

The slowest version of Whatsapp is the one for Windows Phone, because it's just not yet very stable. Windows Phone has a lack of apps, and the apps they have just aren't good yet.

Bugs

There is one bug on all three OS that I've encountered.

In the app there's a system to check whether your messages have been delivered or not.

If you get the clock symbol, then it's not sent or pending.

If you get ✔ it means it's sent but not yet read by the reciever.

With ✔✔ the msg. or mms has been delivered and seen by the user.

The bug is that sometimes the messages are delivered, but the app gives the clock symbol which makes you think it hasn't been delivered.Or sometimes it shows ✔✔ even if it's not seen by the recievers.

Future requests

If I were to make changes in Whatsapp, I'd change several things:

1. Custom background for Windows Phone.

2. Remove the 'last seen', it's just so agitating that it's visible when someone ignores you on purpose.

3. Don't charge 1$ after a year, keep it free.

Conclusion

Whatsapp is a great way to keep in touch, but there are some bugs and issues which have to be worked on.

Also, the service should remain free, and not paid. Okay, it's only a dollar per year, but there are many other free and well functioning messaging apps out there. So if Whatsapp wants to remain popular, it should remain free.
